This location is only an 8 minute walk from the Greyhound Bus Station! It was very easy to drop off and pick up our bag the next day after our concert. I highly recommend and will be using this location in the future! Thank you!

About Getty Center

The Getty Center is one of Los Angeles’ most famous cultural spots. It sits on top of the Santa Monica Mountains in Brentwood. Richard Meier designed this architectural gem, and it opened in 1997. Inside, you’ll find European paintings, sculptures, decorative arts, and photography. The museum is part of the J. Paul Getty Trust. Admission is free. Parking costs money, though.

People come for the world-class art, sure. But they also love Robert Irwin’s gardens and the amazing views of Los Angeles spread out below. The complex has several pavilions connected by open walkways. It’s a nice mix of art, architecture, and nature. The Getty Center opens Tuesday through Sunday. You’ll find restaurants, cafes, and a bookstore stocked with art books and gifts.

Is There Getty Center Luggage Storage?

The Getty Center doesn’t have traditional lockers or baggage storage on-site. Security rules are pretty strict here. You can’t bring large bags, backpacks, or luggage into the exhibition spaces. Small bags and purses are fine. Anything bigger has to stay behind. This creates a problem for travelers carrying their belongings around Los Angeles.

If you need luggage storage near Getty Center, Qeepl has you covered. Our secure storage service lets you explore the museum hands-free. Rates start at just US$7.39 per bag per day. Each item comes with US$1,000 protection. That’s real peace of mind. Instead of worrying about Getty Center storage that doesn’t actually exist, drop your bags at nearby Qeepl partner locations. Then enjoy your visit without any burden.

Major Transit Hubs near Getty Center

The Getty Center is up in the Brentwood hills, but you can reach it from several major transit points around Los Angeles. Knowing these connections helps you plan your trip better.

Union Station - This is Los Angeles’ main railway hub. It serves Amtrak, Metrolink commuter trains, and multiple Metro lines. It’s the city’s primary transportation center. From here, you can connect to the rest of the Metro system. That makes it a key starting point for reaching different parts of LA, including routes toward the Getty Center area.

Westwood/UCLA Metro Station - This station sits on the E Line (Expo). It’s one of the closest Metro stops to the Getty Center. From here, you can catch bus services that bring you closer to the museum. It’s a convenient transit point if you’re using public transportation.

How to Get to the City Centre From Getty Center?

Getting from the Getty Center to downtown Los Angeles or other central areas takes a bit of planning. The museum is up in the hills, away from direct Metro access. Here are your best options:

Bus and Metro combination - Take the Metro Rapid 734 bus from the Getty Center stop down to Westwood/UCLA Metro Station. From there, board the E Line (Expo) heading eastbound. It connects to other Metro lines at stations like 7th Street/Metro Center. That gives you access to downtown LA and beyond. The total journey takes about 45-60 minutes, depending on your connections.

Ride-sharing or Taxi - For a more direct route, use Uber or Lyft. They offer convenient transportation from the Getty Center to central Los Angeles. The ride usually takes 25-35 minutes, depending on traffic. Cost runs between $30-$50. Taxis are less common at the museum. But you can arrange one through the information desk if needed.
