Ueno Station is a really important and old train station in Tokyo, located in the Taitō area. It opened way back in 1883. For a long time, it was the main way to get to the northern parts of Japan. Lots of long-distance trains and local commuter trains stop here. Nowadays, it’s a major stop for the Shinkansen (bullet trains), as well as many other Japan Railways (JR) and Tokyo Metro lines. Millions of people use it every day to get around.

But Ueno isn’t just about trains. It’s also a lively place with lots to see and do. Right next to the station, you’ll find Ueno Park. This park has some amazing museums like the Tokyo National Museum, the National Museum of Nature and Science, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. The well-known Ueno Zoo is also there, along with the busy market street called Ameya-Yokochō. It’s a great starting point if you want to explore this interesting part of the city.
