• South Station: This is one of Boston’s main train stations. Lots of Amtrak and MBTA commuter trains stop here, as well as the Red Line subway. You can walk to the aquarium in about 15 minutes, or take a quick public transit ride. Many long-distance buses also arrive here.
• North Station: The other big train hub in Boston is North Station, located under the TD Garden. It’s a connection point for commuter rail lines and Amtrak’s Downeaster service. From North Station, you can hop on the Green or Orange Line, then switch to the Blue Line to get to the aquarium. It’s not too tricky.
• Aquarium Station: This MBTA station is on the Blue Line and is located right across the street from the aquarium. It’s the most direct way to get there. Plus, the Blue Line connects you easily to Logan International Airport, which is a nice bonus.

The New England Aquarium is nicely situated in the middle of Boston’s waterfront. This makes it super easy to get to other parts of the city center, whether you like walking or taking public transport. It’s pretty convenient.

• Walking: You can easily walk to many of Boston’s famous downtown spots from the aquarium. The historic Faneuil Hall Marketplace is less than a 5-minute stroll away. Downtown Crossing, a popular shopping area, is about a 15-minute walk.
• By MBTA “T” (Subway): The Aquarium Station on the Blue Line is directly across from the aquarium. From there, you can connect to all other subway lines in just a stop or two. This gives you fast access to places like Back Bay (using the Orange or Green Line) or Cambridge (using the Red Line). Pretty neat.
• By Bus: Several MBTA bus routes stop near the aquarium. These buses go to different neighborhoods all around Boston and the surrounding areas. You can check the MBTA schedule to see which routes serve the Central Wharf area. Good to know.
